We are excited to announce that the Philosophy Students’ Association of the University of British Columbia will be reviving the undergraduate philosophy journal (previously known as the “Hemlock”) under the new name of “Eonia”. We are soliciting paper submissions from undergraduates for our Spring 2020 journal publication.
We aim to promote the discussion of philosophical ideas among undergraduates and to give students an opportunity to have their original work published in an academic journal. We strongly encourage you to submit a paper of philosophical nature to be considered for publication. The guidelines for submission are given below.
Call for papers:
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, January 15, 2020
NOTICE: The deadline has been extended from January 15th to January 18th, 2020!
We accept undergraduate submissions in English from all universities. Submissions can be of any length, to a maximum of 25 pages, and should be double-spaced and follow the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition with notes and a bibliography (other citation styles are also acceptable; please note that we may ask successful authors to adjust the format of their citations if their paper is selected for publication). We accept papers on any philosophically relevant topic. Papers should have a well-established thesis and cogent argumentation, engage with the relevant literature in a meaningful way, and demonstrate advanced philosophical ability. We particularly invite submissions of papers developing original theses.
To submit a paper for consideration, please send the following to firstname.lastname@example.org:
A .pdf, .doc, or .docx copy of your paper. Please remove any identifying information from your submission, including your name, student number, and course codes.
Include the following information on a separate cover page:
An abstract including the title of your paper
Your full name
Your institutional affiliation
Your major(s) / specialisation (s)
An email address where we can reach you
We do a blind-review process of papers to ensure the elimination of bias. Please make sure to remove any identifying information from the submitted papers. The review process will begin in mid-January. Decisions on all submissions will be made by March and the issue published in April.
If you have any questions, please contact the editors at email@example.com.
